About this work
Jojo Anavim has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary mixed media practice, gaining recognition for works that interrogate the boundaries between abstraction and representation, surface and depth. His paintings frequently incorporate found materials, textural layering, and symbolic imagery drawn from urban environments and personal mythology, resulting in compositions that reward sustained attention. No.777(Door) exemplifies Anavim's ongoing investigation into threshold imagery—the door functioning as both literal subject and metaphorical passage. At an imposing 80 x 40 inches, the vertical format reinforces the architectural reference while allowing the artist's characteristic material interventions to unfold across a commanding scale. The number 777, carrying numerological associations with completion and spiritual significance across multiple traditions, suggests Anavim's interest in embedding layers of meaning within ostensibly straightforward compositions. This work continues the artist's exploration of liminal spaces and transitional symbols that has defined much of his recent output. The mixed media approach evident here demonstrates Anavim's sophisticated understanding of how disparate materials can coalesce into unified visual statements. His ability to balance gestural freedom with structural discipline places him within a lineage of artists who treat the canvas as a site of accumulation and transformation rather than mere depiction. Collectors have responded to Anavim's authentic vision and his commitment to developing a recognizable visual language while continuing to push his practice into new territory. Guy Hepner is pleased to offer this significant 2024 canvas and welcomes inquiries regarding acquisition.

About the Paintings Series
Paintings | Jojo Anavim | Guy Hepner, New York
About the Series
Jojo Anavim's Paintings series encompasses his large-scale acrylic works — the primary dimension of his practice and the works that have attracted the most serious collector attention. These paintings deploy the visual vocabulary of American consumer culture, street art, and contemporary graphic design at a scale that commands attention and rewards sustained looking.
Anavim works primarily in acrylic on canvas, building chromatic intensity through multiple layers of paint and finishing with a surface quality that sits between the matte flatness of street art and the glossy finish of commercial printing. The result is work that feels simultaneously familiar and unexpected: images from the shared visual culture of contemporary American life rendered with a formal confidence and material presence that elevates them into serious painting.
His recurring subjects — food culture, cartoon characters, Americana, leisure iconography — are treated not as subjects for ironic commentary but as genuine formal and chromatic occasions, each one an opportunity to test the visual intelligence that distinguishes his practice.
Works are priced in the range of $5,000–$30,000 depending on scale. Contact Guy Hepner for current availability.

About Jojo Anavim
Jojo Anavim is a New York based artist raised on Long Island, where he developed an early fascination with branding, packaging, and American consumer culture. As a child, he studied under Disney animator Al Baruch, the creator of Captain Hook and Mighty Mouse, an experience he credits with giving him the confidence to pursue art seriously. He went on to study at Hunter College and later built a career as a graphic designer, working on campaigns for brands including W Hotels, Sephora, and Universal Music Group.
Anavim transitioned to fine art full time in 2013, bringing his design background directly into his painting practice. His work combines acrylic, oil stick, collage, and found materials, including vintage advertisements and packaging he has collected since childhood, layering them into dense, textured compositions. Bold color and repetition run throughout his work, transforming familiar consumer objects, from candy wrappers to logos, into something closer to personal artifact than advertisement. His paintings often carry a nostalgic charge, drawing on the specific branding and packaging of his own upbringing.
Anavim's work is held in institutional and private collections including the Coca-Cola Archives Museum, Madison Square Garden, and the New York Yankees, and he has completed commissions for prominent athletes, musicians, and public figures.
