About this work

Jojo Anavim has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary pop art, building a practice that synthesizes the visual language of consumer culture with tactile, materially rich surfaces. Working from his New York studio, Anavim draws upon the legacy of appropriation art while pushing the medium into three-dimensional territory through his signature use of heavy impasto and mixed-media collage techniques. His work has found an audience among collectors who appreciate the tension between familiar commercial imagery and the handcrafted physicality of his canvases. "Enjoy The Good Life" from 2025 exemplifies Anavim's mature approach to his subject matter. The work centers on the universally recognized Coca-Cola script, transforming a ubiquitous brand emblem into a meditation on aspiration, pleasure, and the promises embedded in advertising's visual rhetoric. What distinguishes this piece is Anavim's treatment of surface—the heavy texture creates a topography that rewards close viewing, while collaged elements introduce layers of meaning that complicate any straightforward reading of the source material. At forty inches square, the canvas commands presence without overwhelming, scaled to function effectively in both residential and institutional settings. The title itself operates as both quotation and commentary, inviting viewers to consider how consumer messaging shapes collective desire. Anavim's palette and compositional choices demonstrate his confident handling of color relationships and spatial balance, qualities that have contributed to his growing recognition in the contemporary market. About Jojo Anavim

Jojo Anavim is a New York based artist raised on Long Island, where he developed an early fascination with branding, packaging, and American consumer culture. As a child, he studied under Disney animator Al Baruch, the creator of Captain Hook and Mighty Mouse, an experience he credits with giving him the confidence to pursue art seriously. He went on to study at Hunter College and later built a career as a graphic designer, working on campaigns for brands including W Hotels, Sephora, and Universal Music Group.

Anavim transitioned to fine art full time in 2013, bringing his design background directly into his painting practice. His work combines acrylic, oil stick, collage, and found materials, including vintage advertisements and packaging he has collected since childhood, layering them into dense, textured compositions. Bold color and repetition run throughout his work, transforming familiar consumer objects, from candy wrappers to logos, into something closer to personal artifact than advertisement. His paintings often carry a nostalgic charge, drawing on the specific branding and packaging of his own upbringing.

Anavim's work is held in institutional and private collections including the Coca-Cola Archives Museum, Madison Square Garden, and the New York Yankees, and he has completed commissions for prominent athletes, musicians, and public figures.
