About this work

This intimate painting presents a meticulously rendered still life of packaged snack cakes against a neutral background. Mayoral employs precise brushwork to capture the industrial packaging with remarkable clarity, transforming these everyday commercial objects into subjects worthy of sustained contemplation. The acrylic medium on wood panel lends itself to his exacting approach, allowing for crisp edges and luminous color that emphasizes the artificial brilliance of mass-produced food packaging. The modest scale invites close viewing, revealing the artist's careful attention to typography, cellophane reflections, and the interplay between product and presentation. Mayoral's work continues the grand tradition of elevating quotidian objects through painterly attention, drawing connections to both Pop Art's fascination with consumer culture and contemporary realism's technical virtuosity. His choice of subject matter speaks to our complex relationship with convenience and nostalgia, while his refined execution demonstrates considerable skill. This piece represents an accessible entry point for collectors interested in contemporary still life painting that bridges conceptual rigor with visual appeal. About Javier Mayoral

Javier Mayoral, known online as PulpBrother, was born in Spain, where he worked briefly for an advertising company before moving to the United States in his early thirties. He lived in New York, Phoenix, and San Francisco before eventually settling in Miami, where he now works full time as a painter.

Mayoral is entirely self-taught and worked as a chef for years while painting on the side, developing his style through small acrylic works on wood. His paintings are minimal and direct, typically pairing a single, easily recognizable figure with a witty or blunt handwritten caption, drawing on the visual language of advertising and illustration. His background in that industry shows through in the poster-like clarity of his compositions.

His work blends humor with pointed social and psychological commentary, taking cues from popular culture, Freudian ideas, and everyday absurdity, often delivered with a deadpan or irreverent tone. Mayoral built much of his early following directly through social media, where his fast, prolific output and consistent visual style resonated with a broad audience. He has since produced thousands of paintings and exhibited across the United States and in Spain, Austria, and France.
