Connor Gottfried is a Canadian artist, engineer, and musician based in Calgary. His interest in technology began at age five, when his father brought home an Apple II computer, sparking a lifelong fascination with computation and interactive systems that later became central to his art.

Gottfried builds large scale, playable sculptures and wall pieces from repurposed retro electronics, including Game Boys, Walkmans, cassette decks, and vintage game consoles. He combines acrylic, aluminum, and salvaged circuitry to transform outdated technology into interactive, often illuminated art objects, many of which retain their original playable function. His work explores themes of childhood, nostalgia, and obsolescence, treating old consoles and gadgets not as discarded relics but as objects capable of renewal.

His practice also incorporates an element of chance, using scraped paint, layered materials, and improvisation to let unplanned outcomes shape the final piece. Alongside his visual art, Gottfried has released numerous albums of experimental music and works as a technologist focused on education.

His work has been shown internationally, including at Guy Hepner in New York, StolenSpace in London, and galleries in Taiwan, with notable series including Lost Visions of the Future and Play.
