Energy is neither created nor destroyed, it simply changes. Basquiat, whose star burned brighter and shorter than many other, exemplifies the eternal principal that energy finds new forms and new outlets. His explosive neo-expressionist style for which is his loved across the globe speaks of a sense of the eternal and his symbols feel like they have always existed and, most likely, always will. As if the artist himself channelled something beyond human expression to create a new visual language and symbols that is of the past, the present and the future all at once.
