Invader is one of the most commercially significant street artists working today, with a market that has expanded dramatically over the past decade and now commands prices across all major auction houses. Works by Invader trade at Christie's, Sotheby's, Phillips, and Bonhams, with ceramic tile mosaic pieces achieving results that reflect his unique position as an artist who has permanently altered the physical fabric of cities worldwide.
His mosaic tiles — site-specific installations in over 80 cities across 6 continents — have become one of the defining symbols of contemporary street art, and his editioned works (canvas mosaics, prints, and multiples) carry that cultural weight into the collector market. Print editions and original mosaic works have achieved five-figure prices at auction, with exceptional examples reaching substantially higher.

Invader is a French street artist who has maintained his anonymity since beginning his practice in Paris in 1998, taking his name from the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders. Working with small ceramic tiles — the same material used in public mosaics, swimming pools, and bathroom walls — he installs pixelated mosaic images of Space Invaders characters and other 8-bit imagery on the facades of buildings in cities worldwide, treating the urban surface as a canvas for a long-running, globally distributed artwork.
The project began in Paris and has since expanded to over 80 cities across 6 continents, with each "invasion" documented in a series of limited edition books (Invasion Guides) that have themselves become sought-after collector objects. Each city receives a unique "score" reflecting the number of active pieces, and Invader maintains a live mapping of his works through a dedicated mobile application.
His practice engages the language of gaming, pixel art, and urban space simultaneously — placing works at culturally charged locations (the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, the Hollywood sign) in a form of artistic Situationist intervention that is simultaneously irreverent and deeply considered. The ceramic tile medium gives his street works exceptional durability: many early Paris pieces from the late 1990s remain in place, and the patina of age has only enhanced their resonance.
Beyond his street installations, Invader produces limited edition prints, canvas works, and multiples that translate his tile imagery into collector formats. These editions are produced in strict limited numbers and sell rapidly upon release, creating an active secondary market.
Invasion — Invader's core series: works based on his Space Invaders street installation imagery, available as framed tile mosaics, canvas works, and prints.
Aladdin Sane — Works referencing David Bowie's iconic Aladdin Sane lightning bolt imagery, rendered in Invader's characteristic pixel/mosaic style.
Alert System — Works from his ongoing engagement with warning systems, surveillance, and the visual language of security culture.
Hello My Game Is — Works in which Invader introduces himself through the cultural language of gaming and interactive media.
Still Life with Pocari Can — Still life compositions rendered in pixel/mosaic format, exploring the intersection of traditional painting genres and 8-bit imagery.
Invader's work has been exhibited at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the MOCA in Los Angeles, and numerous international galleries and institutions. His Invasion Guide books are held in library collections worldwide. He has been the subject of major retrospective exhibitions and his work is represented in significant private collections across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
