Keith Haring — The Valley

Created in 1989–90 during the final chapter of his career, Keith Haring's The Valley is one of his most emotionally charged and visually complex bodies of print work. A suite of screenprints catalogued in Littmann, the series explores dense, interlocking compositions of figures, animals and symbolic forms in Haring's mature palette — works that carry both the urgency of the AIDS crisis and the vitality that defined his entire practice.

The Valley was produced as Haring's own diagnosis became public and the epidemic continued to devastate the communities he worked within. The prints are marked by all-over compositions, with figures interlocked across the entire picture plane and no single focal point — a visual density that sets them apart from his earlier, more graphic series. Each print is individually titled, making the works equally compelling as single acquisitions or as a complete set.
