About this work

Jesse Morsberger has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary figurative painting, garnering attention from collectors drawn to his psychologically charged compositions and refined technical approach. His work occupies a compelling position within the current landscape of representational art, bridging classical painting traditions with decidedly modern subject matter and emotional complexity. Dual Screen presents a formally composed interior scene rendered in Morsberger's characteristic oil technique, demonstrating his facility with light, atmosphere, and the subtle tensions of contemporary domestic life. The canvas, measuring 28x30 inches, offers an intimate scale that draws the viewer into close engagement with its subject. Morsberger's handling of paint reveals both precision and sensitivity, with carefully modulated tones establishing spatial depth while maintaining the flattened, contemplative quality that defines his visual language. The title itself suggests a meditation on divided attention, parallel narratives, or the fractured nature of modern experience, themes the artist has explored throughout his practice with increasing sophistication. The composition demonstrates Morsberger's ability to transform seemingly mundane scenarios into charged psychological tableaux, where ordinary objects and settings become vessels for broader commentary on isolation, connection, and the screens, both literal and metaphorical, that mediate contemporary existence. His palette choices and compositional decisions reveal an artist working with deliberate intention, each element contributing to a cohesive visual statement. As Morsberger's recognition continues to grow among discerning collectors of contemporary figurative work, this painting represents an opportunity to acquire a significant example from his current practice. About Jesse Morsberger

Jesse Morsberger was born in Brooklyn in 1994 and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He received his BFA in Drawing and Painting from SUNY Purchase College in 2016. He was a fellow/resident at the Vermont Studio Center in 2020, and has exhibited with institutions and galleries including Nicodim Gallery, Kravets Wehby Gallery, Milk Gallery, Taymour Grahne Projects, Andrea Festa Fine Art, and COVA Art Gallery.

His practice is heavily influenced by video games and the visual language of digital worlds. Growing up, gaming was a significant part of his life, providing an alternate space for fantasy and escape. His paintings translate the 16-bit aesthetics of games into traditional oil painting, creating a deliberate tension between the pixelated, digital image and the physicality of paint.
