Rosa Esman initiated a collaboration with Lichtenstein for his inaugural solo print portfolio, Ten Landscapes. This series incorporates screen print with a collage of iridescent Mylar, photography, and Rowlux, resulting in images characterized by rich textural and spatial interplay. Unlike Lichtenstein's earlier works derived from comic strips or advertisements, these landscapes are entirely imaginative. In 1965, Lichtenstein introduced Rowlux in the print Seascape (1), marking its first use in his oeuvre. The artist manually cut the screenprint stencils for creating Ten Landscapes. Photographs, captured by Lichtenstein himself, were printed by the Slide-O-Chrome Corporation in New York. Charles Cardinale, the printer supervised by Lichtenstein, executed the die-cutting of Rowlux from large sheets to achieve the desired moiré pattern for each image. Consequently, variations in the moiré pattern make each individual print within an edition distinct from the others.
