About this work
Mr. Brainwash, the pseudonym of French-born, Los Angeles-based artist Thierry Guetta, has established himself as one of the most commercially successful figures to emerge from the contemporary street art movement. Rising to international prominence following the 2010 documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, directed by Banksy, Mr. Brainwash has cultivated a distinctive practice that fuses pop art aesthetics with street art sensibilities, earning significant collector interest and a robust presence in both primary and secondary markets worldwide. Glitch (Red) from 2018 exemplifies the artist's ongoing engagement with themes of media saturation, technological interference, and the fragmentation of contemporary visual culture. The work presents a striking interplay of bold crimson tones against disrupted imagery, evoking the aesthetic of digital corruption and signal decay. This deliberate visual disturbance speaks to our increasingly mediated experience of reality, where information is perpetually filtered, manipulated, and reconstructed. The composition balances chaos with intentionality, demonstrating Mr. Brainwash's facility for transforming familiar visual languages into something at once disorienting and aesthetically compelling. This particular impression, numbered 18 of 50, represents a desirable position within a limited edition, offering collectors accessibility to the artist's vision while maintaining the exclusivity that supports long-term value. The modest edition size reflects the artist's commitment to balancing availability with collectibility. Guy Hepner is pleased to offer this significant example of Mr. Brainwash's exploration of digital-age anxieties rendered through his signature visual vocabulary. For acquisition enquiries, private viewing arrangements, or additional information regarding this work, collectors are invited to contact the gallery directly.

About Mr. Brainwash
Mr. Brainwash is the alias of Thierry Guetta, a French-American contemporary artist born in 1966 in Garges-lès-Gonesse, France. He moved to Los Angeles at 15. There, an obsession with filming led him into the world of street art, where he documented artists including his cousin Invader, Shepard Fairey and Banksy.
Encouraged by Banksy to make his own work, Guetta adopted the name Mr. Brainwash. His debut exhibition, Life Is Beautiful (2008), was staged in a converted Los Angeles TV studio and became a landmark event. He gained international recognition after appearing in Banksy's Oscar-nominated 2010 documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop.
His work blends street art, Pop Art and celebrity culture through bold stencils, spray-paint drips and bright color. He remixes icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Albert Einstein alongside uplifting slogans like Life Is Beautiful and Follow Your Heart. He has designed album covers for Madonna and Rick Ross. In 2022 he opened the Mr. Brainwash Art Museum in Beverly Hills.
Today his paintings, sculptures and limited edition prints are collected worldwide.
