This series showcases Miller's mastery of screenprinting and mixed media, transforming everyday language into compelling visual statements that challenge viewer perception and cultural sentiment.
Created during a pivotal moment in contemporary art, the Hate's Outta Date works demonstrate Miller's ability to distil complex emotional and social commentary into deceptively simple, yet profoundly impactful compositions. Available in multiple colour variations—including striking blue and yellow editions—each piece functions as both standalone artwork and part of a cohesive conceptual dialogue.

Five Facts About Harland Miller Hate's Outta Date
In 2017, Hate's Outta Date was released by the charity initiative Art on a Postcard as a giclée print in an edition of 50 on Somerset Satin enhanced paper, offered through the Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair with a hand-finished version included as a raffle prize.
In 2022, White Cube published a screenprint edition of Hate's Outta Date in a total run of 250, split evenly between two colourways — 125 in blue and 125 in yellow — each sheet measuring 100 x 70 cm, signed and numbered by the artist.
Proceeds from the 2022 White Cube edition were donated to Ukraine relief charities Hope and Homes for Children and CARE International, with no VAT charged on the sale.
Miller has said he produced the work in two separate colourways because colour changes how a text is read, comparing the effect to the way a flag communicates collective meaning.
The print belongs to Miller's long-running series of paintings and editions that reimagine the visual format of classic Penguin paperback dust jackets with his own invented titles.
