Get It Together, 2026
Acrylic on canvas
60 x 48 in 152.4 x 121.9 cm
Eric Stefanski's "Get It Together" deploys the imperative with a force the artist is careful not to undermine. Rendered in his characteristic hand-painted text across a 48 by 60 inch canvas, the phrase exists in a productive ambiguity: it could be addressed to the viewer, to another person, to oneself. Stefanski's paintings frequently occupy this space—language that is both personal and transferable, specific in its origin and universal in its landing. The urgency of the command carries with it the implication of disarray. "Get It Together" is only said when things are, in fact, not together—when the gap between how things are and how they need to be is too wide to ignore. The painting names this gap directly, without softening it or offering easy resolution. It simply demands. As part of the Painted Confessions series, the work exemplifies Stefanski's practice of treating everyday language as both subject and medium. The words are the painting; the painting is the words at the scale they actually carry. For inquiries, please contact Guy Hepner gallery in New York.
