One Day, 2026
Acrylic on canvas
60 x 48 in 152.4 x 121.9 cm
Eric Stefanski's "One Day" distills an entire emotional landscape into two words. Painted in his characteristic hand-rendered text across a 48 by 60 inch canvas, the phrase holds the tension between hope and deferral—"one day" as promise, as consolation, as the thing people say when the present is too much and the future is the only place left to look. The simplicity of the title is deceptive. Stefanski understands that the most charged language is often the most economical, and "One Day" carries the full weight of longing within it. The scale of the work refuses to let the sentiment be small—these two words fill the room, and with them, every projection and wish they contain. The painting fits within Stefanski's broader practice of treating language as emotional evidence: not illustration, not decoration, but the feeling itself rendered in paint. "One Day" joins a body of work that captures what it means to live in anticipation, to hold on to futures that may or may not arrive. For inquiries, please contact Guy Hepner gallery in New York.
