Nina Chanel Abney — Two Years and Counting For Sale

Two Years and Counting is a large-scale relief print by Nina Chanel Abney, published in 2018 by Pace Editions Inc. in New York. Measuring nearly 66 x 40 inches and printed in eleven colours, the sheet is issued in an edition of 35 plus artist's proofs — a scale and production process that mirrors the ambition of Abney's paintings while working within the discipline of the printed block.

Abney, born in Harvey, Illinois in 1982, trained first at Augustana College before completing her MFA at Parsons School of Design in New York. She emerged as a significant voice in contemporary painting with works like Class of 2007, which drew the attention of collectors including the Rubell family and toured nationally in the exhibition 30 Americans. Since then, her paintings and prints have entered the collections of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, the Rubell Museum, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Brooklyn Museum, among others.

Two Years and Counting carries forward Abney's signature visual language: flattened, interlocking planes of saturated colour, fractured figuration, and a compositional density that rewards sustained looking. The relief printmaking process — building an image through layered, hand-cut blocks — translates her painterly approach to colour blocking into a rigorously physical medium, in which every colour represents a distinct carved and inked surface.

Guy Hepner represents Abney's editioned print work, offering collectors access to a body of prints produced in close collaboration with Pace Editions, one of the most established fine-art print publishers in the United States.
