Born in Reading, Pennsylvania Haring moved to New York’sEast Village in the early 1980s where he quickly established himself as a leading street and graffiti artist through his now legendary subway drawings. A contemporary and friend of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Kenny Scharf, Haring forever changed the gallery/artist dynamic and rose to international acclaim and commercial success almost overnight. His deeply held belief that art is forever saw Haring revolutionize the role of the artist through his Pop Shop shops and bringing the dynamic of the street into his galleries.
