Overview
"In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes"
Whether screen prints or original paintings, sculptures or performance art, Andy Warhol forever changed the very concept of art itself through the blending of mass, popular consumer culture with high art. Like almost no other artist of the Post-War era, Andy Warhol became the face of 20th century art and was arguably responsible for the reinvention of the very notion of visual art itself through his pioneering use of screen printing and painting that captured and chronicled the world around him. Andy Warhol’s prints, paintings and sculptures changed the cultural and artistic landscape of the time - effects that resonate as much today as then. Warhol’s screen print catalogue is as equally impressive as his multitude of era defining paintings and feature in important museum and private collections around the World - cementing his legacy and importance as a cultural and artistic icon. Our selection of Andy Warhol's prints for sale spans the artist's ever-evolving and every innventive career. From his early Cooking Pot to the posthumous Moonwalk and rare TPs, at Guy Hepner our curated selection of Warhol prints for sale offers something for all collectors.
Known for his Brillo pad boxes to Marilyn Monroe, Campbell’s Soup Cans to Electric Chairs - Warhol was able to capture the people, faces and motifs that surrounded him, finding beauty in the seemingly mundane through his pioneering use of composition, technique and subject matter notable in both his original paintings and prints. Obsessed with celebrity, mass-culture, consumerism and mechanical reproduction, Warhol drew from and reimagined the world around him and offered the definitive snapshot of 20th century American life.
Both celebrating and critiquing consumerism through the repetition of brand logos, celebrities and society - Warhol drew back the curtain of society raising important questions about the pressing issues of the 20th century that are equally valid today.
Pioneering the use of silkscreen print making, Warhol was the complete visual artist experimenting with avant-garde filmmaking, photography and painting, thus expanding the notion of the “artist” and pushed creative freedom to the limits. His innovations within the realm of printmaking and mastery of the technique saw the complexity of Warhol’s subject matter and production evolve with the society he so vibrantly captured. Famous across the World, Andy Warhol’s artworks are immediately recognizable and are part of global cultural history as he documents, distorts and tells the story of the 20th century like no other.
