Andy Warhol's 1971 retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art was a landmark exhibition that cemented his status as a central figure in American art. Officially titled “Andy Warhol”, the retrospective ran from May 1 to June 13, 1971, and was Warhol’s first major U.S. museum retrospective. The exhibition featured over 200 works from Warhol’s career up to that point, including his iconic silkscreens, films, and sculptures.
