“I Want to Believe” references the famous phrase from Agent Mulder’s poster in the series “The X-Files.” It highlights the enduring human need to believe in something or to find meaning in life to deem it worth living. This theme is timeless, continually evolving with each generation.
Religious beliefs are universal and often expressed unconsciously through means outside formal religion. Even atheists, in their own way, engage in a form of belief by asserting that nothing beyond themselves or life exists. Ironically, this belief can be as rigid as those held by devoted religious adherents.
The triptych format itself has deep roots in religious art, traditionally used as an altarpiece in Christian churches. This format allowed me to elevate the storytelling aspect that is used in my work and cover more emotional complexity.
These paintings are inspired by my personal experience with spirituality and my observations of new generations searching for new answers to the world’s oldest questions.
