Man's Best Friend is a significant series by KAWS. In this collection, KAWS reimagines the iconic character Snoopy from the Peanuts comic strip, offering a fresh perspective on the beloved figure.

Comprising 10 monochrome screen prints, Man's Best Friend serves as an homage to Snoopy. Unlike earlier works where KAWS depicted characters in bold colors, here Snoopy is rendered in a black and white sketch-like style, with lines appearing somewhat scrawled onto the page. This departure from KAWS' usual aesthetic lends a raw and expressive quality to the pieces.

The series showcases multiple repeated figures of Snoopy, with overlapping elements creating a composite image that may appear messy at first glance. This departure from the clean and polished aesthetic seen in other KAWS prints adds to the uniqueness of Man's Best Friend. The works almost resemble pages torn from a sketchbook, serving as studies for a final painting or print rather than the finished product itself.

What sets this series apart is its departure from KAWS' typical style, showcasing a more loose and expressionistic approach. By choosing somber colors to depict the subject matter, KAWS demonstrates his artistic maturity and talent as a draftsman.

Throughout his career, KAWS has explored the significance of cartoons in contemporary culture and the impact of pop culture on society. He questions the role of cartoons in people's lives and reflects on how they can become deeply ingrained in popular culture, often surpassing the influence of traditional art or current events. As KAWS himself has noted, the infusion of cartoons into society can be profound, sometimes overshadowing even political discourse.
