Claire Salvo’s Ozzy crashes rock legend into legal tender. Painted directly onto a U.S. dollar bill, her grayscale portrait of Ozzy Osbourne explodes out of Washington’s oval, mouth open in a scream, hand gripping the frame as if he’s clawing his way out of the currency itself. The razor-sharp likeness and tight monochrome modeling play against the familiar green ink and ornate engraving of the bill, turning a symbol of American value into a tiny shrine for a British metal icon. At once irreverent and reverent, Ozzy captures the wild energy of its subject while asking what we really worship: money, music, or the people who become larger than both.
