Connor Gottfried’s practice merges technology, play, and sculpture into interactive works that transform familiar devices into art objects. Using acrylic, aluminum, and electronics, he creates illuminated, oversized canvases and asymmetric forms that contain fully playable retro video games. Candy-colored and laser-cut with precision, these works evoke the joy and nostalgia of growing up alongside technology, reimagining gaming consoles as sculptural centerpieces.

Rather than treating outdated devices as obsolete, Gottfried frames them as vessels of memory and comfort. His works recall the shared cultural history of late-twentieth-century gadgetry while embracing a retro-technological aesthetic infused with pop iconography. By encouraging direct interaction, he challenges traditional museum etiquette and dissolves the boundary between viewer and participant. In doing so, Gottfried not only celebrates the aesthetic potential of technology but also invites audiences to rediscover time well spent in playful immersion.
