Overview
"Each piece of art symbolizes a dream, a moment, or an unprocessed experience, and represents a feeling - whether it be love or anger, suffering or happiness."
Cevin Parker is an artist based in Berlin. In his abstract paintings, he utilizes color emotionally, as an ever-evolving source of inspiration. Parker is self-taught - creativity is in his blood as an artist.
As such, he reflects on himself and his surroundings, inspired by concepts, an impulsive vision, or an unexpected muse. His paintings embrace quirky notions of abstraction and draw on the American Color Field painters of the 1950s and 1960s. Some fundamental ideas of Gerhard Richter can also be sporadically recognized in his works.
The artist employs soft, muted tones and layers of acrylic. The traces of memory reveal a sensitive reflection of the world without ego. Parker manipulates canvases with acrylic paint and utilizes research in color psychology, particularly in dreams, to imbue his works with a sensual effect. The harmonious tones of the environment connect his audience with the emotions he creates within them.
The background texture is built up through layered spray paint to emboss the canvas and capture different emotions. Simultaneously, expressive acrylic paint imprints recount the artist's experiences as he fully taps into his emotional state in his studio in Berlin.
In addition to sold-out exhibitions in Germany, Portugal, and Austria, Parker also had the opportunity to exhibit during Art Basel in Miami and host a pop-up event. He not only used canvases as a medium but also presented a unique artwork on the new McLaren Artura, turning it into an external masterpiece.
Furthermore, he, along with his wife Maddi Bu, served as the face of a campaign by Tiffany & Co. He also had the privilege to work for renowned clients such as Guerlain and Babor.
Cevin Parker's works can be found in private collections worldwide, including Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Canada, Spain, France, South Africa, Indonesia, the USA, and the UK.
