Overview
have personally lost it all and what I've learned is when you lose it all, you can win it all again and create a new beginning!
John Paul Fauves is a visual artist from Costa Rica, currently residing and practicing his art in San José.
His artworks have been showcased in various galleries both in the United States and throughout Europe. These include Krause Gallery in New York City, Guy Hepner Gallery in New York City, Imitate Modern in London, and the Meir Gallery in Belgium. Fauves' paintings have also been featured in prominent publications such as Vogue Italia and Dansk.
Early in his life, Fauves discovered his passion for painting under the guidance of the influential modern artist Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso. Despite taking a break from the arts to pursue business training in 2017, he returned to the international art scene with exhibitions.
Fauves' artistic style revolves around exploring questions of identity in the context of art history, everyday interactions with mainstream culture, and social media. Drawing inspiration from modernist masters and pop-artists, he intricately blends fragments of diverse iconic images into vibrant and colorful compositions. Fauves employs a technique of layering, cutting, and collaging pop-cultural elements, creating paintings that, while not entirely unrecognizable, present distorted versions of the familiar. This approach prompts viewers to question their preconceived notions and understanding of the subjects depicted.
