Yoshitomo Nara, born in 1959 in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, is a celebrated contemporary artist known for his introspective and emotionally resonant works. After earning a master’s degree from Aichi University of the Arts in 1987, he moved to Germany in 1988 to study at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Nara lived in Cologne before returning to Japan in 2000.
