Did You Even Cry by Witchoria

Victoria Siemer, also known as Witchoria, is a graphic designer based in Brooklyn, NY. She works predominantly in the digital realm, creating surreal photo manipulations that reflect her penchant for ennui, existential crisis, and heartbreak.

In Siemer’s newest Illuminated series, emotionally freighted everyday phrases appear in glowing letters against lonely landscapes, as if conjured by a forlorn wanderer’s subconscious. The phrase “Things could be worse” hangs between two trees in one image. In another, “Did you even cry?” floats along a coastline at sunrise. As with most of her work, she begins with an idea and then uses her tools—a camera, Photoshop, and sometimes After Effects and Illustrator—until she has achieved what she sees in her mind’s eye. “It’s like a puzzle,” Siemer says. “The final image is the problem, and you have to find a solution.”

Siemer is the Associate Art Director at Velocidi, a digital content marketing agency. She creates innovative digital designs that differentiate client campaigns and enable them to achieve their business goals. Her work has been featured in a variety of digital publications including Wired, Juxtapoz, Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, and Business Insider. She graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a BFA in Communication Design.
