Born in Jacksonville, FL, Shields began his career as a professional inline skater, competing in the 1999 and 2000 X Games, and touring with Tony Hawk in 2003. He credits Fraser Kee Scott with discovering him as a photographer back when he was releasing his images and videos on MySpace, and soon afterward, began doing gallery shows.
In addition to his Fine Art photographs, he has shot campaigns for brands like Nike, Adidas, Playboy, Harley Davidson, and Gergé Swiss watches, among others. In 2014, he completed his first feature-length film, Final Girl, and also published books, including Smartest Man and The Dirty Side of Glamour.
