Guy Hepner is pleased to present a rare selection of Andy Warhol’s Dollar Signs from a private collection. This collection includes, single, quad and original Dollar Signs on paper.

The Dollar Signs are among Warhol’s most commanding and influential images. Warhol focused on his favorite commodity in the early 1980s when he isolated the dollar sign, reinterpreting it in a rough, sketchy manner. Warhol displayed his gift for satire with these brilliant, colorful depictions of the most obvious symbol for money and wealth.

Andy Warhol: "I like money on the wall. Say you were going to buy a $200,000 painting. I think you should take that money, tie it up, and hang it on the wall. Then when someone visited you, the first thing they would see is the money on the wall." 

Warhol’s bold commentary on the relationship between art and money is a wry reminder of the power, influence and scale of today’s art market. In late 2009, Andy Warhol's 200 One Dollar Bills broke records at auction; proving that the art world enthusiastically embraces his sardonic examination of art as a commodity.
